Lane is a Social Media Explorer. There are scores of people that call themselves gurus, experts and masters. He doesn’t believe most of them.
Social Media and Technology are evolving every day. It is impossible to master something that is changing while you study it… So he believes in exploring. Electronic Networking, just like networking in real life, is an adventure.
After discovering blogging for the third time a few years ago, he dove headlong into it. In the last two years, Lane has produced over 1000 posts. He blogs about real estate, cars and technology, as well as other subjects on Active|Rain, LaneBailey.com, LaneBailey.info, LilburnDwellings, GwinnettGarageGuy and a few other sites.
The next leg of the adventure was his immersion in Social Networking. Local automotive forums were the beginning, and they pre-dated blogging by years. Active|Rain turned out to be much more than a blogging platform as Lane’s network of real estate agents and technology leaders grew by leaps and bounds. Twitter, FaceBook, LinkedIn, Flickr and other networks soon followed.
As the number of active networks he participated in grew, he started to see how it could fit together. The big picture started to emerge. Maybe this wasn’t just a way to chat with people from the past.
Lane began the process of organizing Social Media Breakfast Atlanta, along with Ken Cook. He also became an Active|Rain Ambassador. Finally, after building dozens of blogs and websites for properties, projects and groups in which he participated, he began consulting with AnotherMeVA to build WordPress websites for real estate agents.
He has more than 30 featured posts on the Active|Rain blogging network, including several that were top headliners for the A|R newsletter. He has also presented on Social Networking at the first REbarCamp in San Fransisco.
In his previous life, Lane was a professional advertising photographer in Atlanta, and General Manager of a camera store/portrait studio/production lab.
